How to test
- Wait two seconds. The number appears by itself.
- Compare it with the rate your monitor should run at.
- Press Show moving bar and watch for jumps.
- Press Measure again after changing a setting.
How it is measured
The page asks the browser to call it once per frame and times 120 frames in a row. The middle value (the median) of the gaps gives the rate. If it lands within 1% of a common rate such as 60, 120 or 144, we show that rate with the word “about”.
Why it can be lower than your monitor’s rating
The number is what this browser is drawing, not what the panel can do. A system display setting left at 60 Hz, a power-saving mode or a busy computer can all lower it.

Questions
My 144 Hz monitor shows 60. Why?
Check the refresh rate in your system display settings first. It may still be set to 60 Hz. Then press Measure again.
Is this the same as a UFO test?
It answers the same first question: the refresh rate the browser sees. The moving bar here is a simple stutter check, not a motion blur test.
Why does the number change a little each time?
Frame timing wobbles by a fraction of a millisecond. That is why a result close to a common rate is shown as “about”.
