How to test

  1. Wipe the screen so dust doesn’t fool you.
  2. Press Start full screen.
  3. Click, tap or press the right arrow to go to the next color.
  4. Look closely on each color. Press Esc to leave early.

What to look for

On each color, look for a dot that is a different color from everything around it. A dot that shows on every color, even after you wipe the screen, is on the panel and not dust.

A screen test for a new monitor

The same solid colors make uneven lighting easy to see. On black in a dark room, look for bright patches near the edges. On white, look for areas that look darker or tinted.

Nothing flashes

Colors change only when you click, tap or press a key. The test never cycles on its own, and nothing else is drawn on the full-screen color.

Questions

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Where the browser allows full screen, the color fills the display. Where it does not, the color fills the browser window instead.

How many bad pixels are acceptable?

That depends on the maker’s warranty policy for your model. We don’t list numbers here because they differ by brand and change over time. Check the warranty page for your screen.

Can this fix a stuck pixel?

No. This page only shows solid colors so you can find them.
